According to the newspaper, “About the only representatives of the Old Back Bay aristocracy left in public life are Henry Cabot Lodge, Winthrop Murray Crane, Augustus Peabody Gardner and Butler Ames, and the tenure of every one of them is threatened with an untimely end.”
